Democrats have a lock on 2008 presidential hair says hair transplant doctor

Do Democrats have better hair than Republicans?

They do according to an article in the Washington Times today quoting Dr. Jon Gaffney, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon.

According to Gaffney, Al Gore has had a hair transplant, Rudolph W. Giuliani needs one, and Mitt Romney’s has a dye job.

He says forget about campaign promises — the Democrats could win the presidential election in 2008 by virtue of their good hairdos.

He may be right, when was the last time a bald president was elected?  It’s sad to say but hair does make the man, or woman, and having a president who looks youthful and vibrant seems to be what most people want.   Whether they would consciously admit it or not, I am quite confident that to the average American what a presidential candidate looks like is probably more important than what their policies are.

There is a lot of substance to this; a 2004 survey of 1009 adults by Opinion Research Corp. found that the majority favored President Bush’s hair over John Kerry’s hair, 51 percent to 30 percent.

Let’s face it, today’s politics are so full of spin and counter-spin, it becomes difficult to focus on the respective candidate’s issues.   Maybe it’s just easier to focus on their respective hairlines, at least those seem to be more static than their positions on various issues.

That might be the real reason why having a strong hairline is so important to politicians.  Once you stop admiring their hair you might actually start noticing how many times they change their minds on issues.
