NBC’s Today Show on Thursday is taking a closer look at a few new laser devices available to consumers and will air interviews with Dr. Alan Bauman and some of his patients.
In the wake of the FDA-clearance of the LaserComb, Dr Alan Bauman, a hair loss expert from Florida, was contacted by NBC’s TODAY Show’s Janice Lieberman.
Lieberman was reporting on the medical hair-growth treatments and procedures used by hair transplant doctors to slow, stop and reverse hereditary hair loss.
Dr. Bauman allowed NBC to interview some of his patients at his newly-expanded facility for Laser Therapy and Hair Transplantation in Boca Raton, Florida where he has various laser devices in use from manufacturers like Hairmax and Sunetics.
“Low level laser therapy has shown great potential for treating certain types of male and female hair loss,” says Dr Alan J. Bauman, M.D., a prominent hair restoration physician and one of the nation’s top experts on hair loss. “Laser therapy is an important part of a multi-therapy approach to restoring lost hair.”
According to Dr. Bauman, low level laser therapy (LLLT) is believed to reactivate hair growth by stimulating live, but weakened, follicles at the cellular level.
Hairmax recently received FDA clearance to make claims of hair growth from the use of their handheld LaserComb as a result of clinical studies they had conducted.
Sunetics International’s own clinical studies have shown that as a result of its laser therapy products, 86-percent of patients had healthier hair, 78-percent had thicker hair and 76-percent had fuller hair and over 85-percent were satisfied clients.
“For those of us on the ‘front-line’ in the battle against hair loss, it was with great excitement that we learned of the recent FDA-clearance of the HairMax LaserComb for the treatment of hair loss. Having used laser therapy in my hair restoration practice since 1999, alone as well as with other FDA-approved therapies (like Propecia and Rogaine) and hair transplantation, the clearance did not come as a surprise,” adds Bauman.
While laser therapy is certainly not a ‘miracle cure,’ the clearance of the LaserComb should add significant confidence to those who may have been skeptical of this non-chemical, non-invasive therapy’s ability to promote hair growth.
The hair loss segment is due to air Thursday morning, March 15th, at 8am on NBC’s TODAY Show.
